Who manages the music rights connected to the shares I purchase on ANote Music?

Most catalogues require active management to preserve their long-term value. This is typically handled by record labels, music publishers, managers, and legal advisers, who oversee the lifecycle of the musical works.

As part of our due diligence, we verify that the transfer of the right to receive future royalties (e.g., royalty interests) is compatible with the ongoing active management of the catalogue. This assessment may involve:

  • Limiting the share of royalties that can be listed on the platform, in the case of rights holders directly involved in day-to-day active management of the catalogue;
  • Prioritising catalogues from rights holders not directly involved in day-to-day active management.

For example, when a record label, publisher, or another actively involved rightsholder decides to list a portion of their catalogue, only a minority share (up to 50%) may be offered. This ensures the original rightsholder remains directly involved in daily management and in safeguarding the catalogue’s value.

These safeguards help reduce the risk of operational discontinuity and ensure proper alignment of interests.

Note: on ANote Music you purchase the right to receive future royalties; usage rights and management rights remain with the respective rights holders and their representatives.
