The royalties simulator shows how much a given amount could earn in royalties over a period you choose. It's based on the historical royalty yields of Life of Rights catalogues on ANote Music. It's an illustration, not a forecast or financial advice. ### Where to find it - **On desktop:** in the right-hand panel of the Home page. - **On mobile:** on the Home page, tap **Discover** on the Royalties simulator card. ### How to use it 1. **Choose an amount:** select a preset amount (€1,000, €5,000, €10,000 or €25,000) or enter your own. 2. **Set the holding period:** drag the slider to choose a period from 1 to 10 years. The results update as soon as you change the amount or the period. To browse the catalogues available, select **Explore the market**. ### How to read the results - **Current median historical return:** the range of historical yields used in the simulation. The lower figure reflects the catalogues' weakest periods and the upper figure their strongest. - **Simulated royalties:** the total royalties the amount would generate over the holding period you selected. - **Chart:** the line shows how royalties build up year by year. The shaded band shows the range between the weakest and strongest historical periods. For the full method, select **How this is calculated** below the chart. ### How it is calculated - **Catalogues included:** all Life of Rights catalogues listed on ANote Music. Fixed-term catalogues are not included. - **Yield method:** based on each catalogue's royalties in its weakest and strongest periods over the last 3 years. Yields are calculated as an internal rate of return (IRR), assuming shares are bought at today's price. - **Royalties only:** the simulation covers royalties only. Changes in catalogue share prices are not included. - **Compounding:** the simulation assumes the royalties you receive are used to buy additional shares. You can buy these shares yourself, or use [Autopilot](https://support.anotemusic.com/how-to-set-up-your-portfolio-builder?hsLang=en) (formerly Portfolio Builder), which reinvests your royalties automatically. - **Fees:** figures are shown before ANote's royalty distribution fee, which is deducted when royalties are paid out to your account. The fee is 4% for shares bought at auction or on the primary market and 8% for shares bought on the secondary market. It assumes the catalogues keep generating their median historical yield. Yields reflect royalties only, not catalogue price fluctuations. Figures are shown before ANote's royalty distribution fee (4% or 8%), which is deducted when royalties are paid out to your account. The lower and upper figures reflect the weakest and strongest periods in those catalogues' history; they are not limits on future results.
